He replaced the high and low pressure fuel pumps, both filters & fuel lines, and had the fuel tank removed, cleaned, re-sealed and replaced before I took delivery. I have replaced the battery, radiator, master cylinder, distributor cap, rotor, plugs, plug wires, ignition module, coolant temperature sensor, steering idler arm and steering stabilizer within the last year. I´ve also replaced the four interior speakers with modern units, and have been playing my iPod through an FM transponder. I just didn´t have the heart to carve up the wood grain dashboard to fit a modern head unit. The inside of the distributor received a thorough cleaning and lubricating. Now she starts, runs, steers and stops beautifully and has been my daily driver! On average, she´s been returning 15-18 mpg in mixed town/highway driving (about what you´d expect from a midsize SUV or pickup truck, but with LOADS more style). All of her features and accessories work as they should, with the exception of the power antenna (I´m no stranger to big 1970s Cadillacs, and none of them seem to work anymore).This particular car (I call her ´Daphne´. . . it seemed appropriate), has been as reliable as the sunrise. I wouldn´t hesitate to take her on an extended trip, to and from work, to the grocery store, or just to a local cruise night. Cosmetically, she´s very presentable. The plastic bumper filler panels in the rear bumper have degraded, but reproductions are available for very little money, and installation is a snap. The leather on the driver´s seat is worn out, but this is also easily replaced by a competent upholstery shop. Her body panels are straight, and her paint and vinyl top are in very good condition, as are the carpets. Her chrome is excellent. Much of her other trim is stainless steel, and is also excellent. The trunk contains the original collapsible self-inflating spare tire, original rubber trunk mat, and all related tools and equipment.She´s been a very good car to me, but I need the money more than I need a classic Cadillac right now. I´m hoping to find her a good home and an owner who will appreciate her as much as I have. This is your chance to own a truly unique piece of General Motors history. A collectible classic that offers grace, space and pace, as well as every-day drivability. Clear title in hand. I have replaced the battery, radiator, master cylinder, distributor cap, rotor, plugs, plug wires, ignition module, coolant temperature sensor, steering idler arm and steering stabilizer within the last year. I´ve also replaced the four interior speakers with modern units, and have been playing my iPod through an FM transponder. I just didn´t have the heart to carve up the wood grain dashboard to fit a modern head unit. The inside of the distributor received a thorough cleaning and lubricating. Now she starts, runs, steers and stops beautifully and has been my daily driver! On average, she´s been returning 15-18 mpg in mixed town/highway driving (about what you´d expect from a midsize SUV or pickup truck, but with LOADS more style). All of her features and accessories work as they should, with the exception of the power antenna (I´m no stranger to big 1970s Cadillacs, and none of them seem to work anymore).The Seville marked a HUGE turning point for Cadillac. First seen in 1976, it was 850 pounds lighter and 18 inches shorter than a contemporary Sedan DeVille. Powered exclusively by a fuel-injected 5.7L 350 cubic-inch V8 built by Oldsmobile to Cadillac´s exacting specifications, it was based on the GM Corporate ´J-Body´, which, among other vehicles, underpinned the Chevrolet Nova. Cadillac extensively modified the J-Body, extending the wheelbase, changing the front and rear tracks, modifying the roof and door apertures. . . So many changes earned the Seville its own platform designation, known internally as a ´K-Body´. Seville was created specifically to combat the S-Class Mercedes and 7-Series BMW, which, by 1976 had gobbled up 20% of the luxury car segment. The only way to get their market share back was to give people what they wanted. A lighter, sportier, more fuel efficient, luxury-packed, genuinely American car with graceful, subdued styling. The plan worked, and Seville was a runaway success. With the exception of the Fleetwood 75 long-wheelbase formal limousine, Seville carried the highest sticker price of any Cadillac. Exclusivity, style, panache, and the highest technology were the hallmarks, and the American public responded!The fuel injection is a rudimentary multi-point computer-controlled system developed by Bendix. The licensing was eventually sold to Bosch, who continued development and fitted it to nearly every European car as Bosch D-Jetronic. The Cadillacs had an (undeserved) reputation for drivability problems early on because the mechanics at the dealerships had no experience working with electronic fuel injection. Many were fitted with carburetors by their owners. In reality, the system is robust, reliable, simple to service and almost laughably unsophisticated by modern standards. Replacement parts (should they be needed) are readily available, and quite inexpensive. This particular car (I call her ´Daphne´. . . it seemed appropriate), has been as reliable as the sunrise. I wouldn´t hesitate to take her on an extended trip, to and from work, to the grocery store, or just to a local cruise night. Cosmetically, she´s very presentable. The plastic bumper filler panels in the rear bumper have degraded, but reproductions are available for very little money, and installation is a snap. The leather on the driver´s seat is worn out, but this is also easily replaced by a competent upholstery shop. Her body panels are straight, and her paint and vinyl top are in very good condition, as are the carpets. Her chrome is excellent. Much of her other trim is stainless steel, and is also excellent. The trunk contains the original collapsible self-inflating spare tire, original rubber trunk mat, and all related tools and equipment.She´s been a very good car to me, but I need the money more than I need a classic Cadillac right now. I´m hoping to find her a good home and an owner who will appreciate her as much as I have. This is your chance to own a truly unique piece of General Motors history. A collectible classic that offers grace, space and pace, as well as every-day drivability. Clear title in hand.
