Details: I have a very nice 1985 Eldorado that runs and drive very good. I recently replace the door panels and had the car painted. The paint is a metallic gray. The paint is very nice but not perfect, there is a small area with some minor cracking on passenger side near handle. The inside is nice I had the driver seat redone, they did not have the exact color but the had the pattern.. The am fm cassette radio works. The wiper will not stay off it stays in pause motion when its should be off. I unplug it. Tires are very good. This car is a daily driver. ´With regards to the 1982-´85 aluminum 4.1L (249) engines, the problem source was maintaining the seal between the cast-iron cylinder head and the aluminum intake manifold. Over time--generally 80,000 to 100,000 miles--the gaskets would disintegrate, creating coolant leaks. The engine could then overheat and eventually warp the block. The distortion affected the cam bearings only. The GM engine coolant supplement pellets were essential to prevent minor leaks in the cooling system by retarding the erosion and are essential to maintaining the seal at the intake gasket. These were often not used on a regular basis by owners. In 1985, there was a change in the casting of the blocks for these engines--reinforcements were added. Eldorados with serial numbers after FE623772 had this new block and are sought after by knowing buyers. ´All of the engines are rebuildable, but when GM remanufactured the 4.1L engine it added welded reinforcing as part of the rebuilding. It´s not something most machine shops can do.´ If you like this style Eldorado you want one as descibe in the above paragragh. I have this one, the serial number is FE630677.
